A weekly homework assignment will be made available on Friday each week, due by 11:59pm on Friday of the following week. Homework assignments must be completed as a .Rmd file in RStudio and submitted as a .pdf file on Gradescope.

Instructions

  • All homework files will be available on the course website.
  • Before downloading the first homework, create a folder called sta209 in your Home directory on RStudio.
  1. Use your web browser to navigate to the Grinnell RStudio serve at https://rstudio.grinnell.edu.
  2. Log-in using your Grinnell username and password
  3. Open the course website and navigate to the Homework page
  4. Download the relevant homework file. The filetype will be .Rmd.
  5. In the Files Pane (typically lower right) of RStudio, press upload and choose the homework you just downloaded to your personal directory (it is called Home on RStudio).

    • Due Friday, 1/27 at 11:59pm.

    • For this first assignment, you may handwrite or type your solutions, and then upload as a .pdf or image to Gradescope.

  • Homework 2

    • Due Friday, 2/3 at 11:59pm.

      • Note: the graphic referenced in Exercise 3 is hosted on the Bloomberg website, which is behind a paywall for some users. While you can choose to sign-up for a free account and view the article, you do not need to do so for this assignment. Instead, I’ve taken a screen capture of the interactive graphic, and posted the resulting 3 minute video on your PWeb site. To view the video, go to Documents -> HW 2 Bloomberg Graphic on PWeb.
